What an exciting time for your son or daughter to be a kindergartner.  Your child's first year  of  school  is  a  very  important  one!    Working  together,  we  can  make  it  a  very happy,  creative  period  of  social  and  academic  growth.  This year we will do  a  lot  to  form your child's lasting attitude toward school.  I welcome you to be involved in your child's education and look forward to working with you to ensure the best possible experience for him or her.

There are some things that you can do to help your child get off to a great start. First, begin by preparing him or her for the school experience.  Answer their questions openly and honestly.  Let  them  know  that  they  will  be  attending  school  a  full  day.  Talk with them about how they will be getting to and from school.  If he or she will be a bus rider, talk  to  him  or  her  about  where  they  will  be  picked  up  and  dropped  off.  Discuss with them safety rules and responsible behavior when waiting for and riding the bus.  If your child  will  be  riding  to  daycare,  please  be  sure  and  explain  that  situation  to  him  or  her as well. I encourage you to volunteer to help in your son or daughter's classroom.  This will help your child see that school is important to you and that tends to help school be important to him or her as well. You will receive more information later on procedures to be a volunteer.

If  you  have  any  questions  or  concerns,  please  feel  free  to  contact  me.    I look forward to helping make your son’s or daughter's educational start a great one!  I have an excellent staff that will work hard to ensure your child's success.

Sincerely,

Shirley Bieser, TKC Principal
